Rethink Hunger Story Map

The films are the heart of this. Around them, people can ask a storyteller questions, make their own reel, or tell their own story.

Everything people send in goes into one place, tagged by county. From there, our team reaches out to the strongest stories, and with permission, we cut new content from what comes in.

All of it lives on one map, alongside the films, influencer content, and graphics. People can find their county, see people like them, and add their own. The map also shows us what's landing with people.

Interact

Ask the storytellers.

One bank of questions. People pick what they want to know, and the site builds a custom video of the storytellers answering only those questions.

Some questions are about their lives. Others ask how each of them dealt with the same thing.

Tell

Tell your story.

People record a video, record their voice, or write it down. A few short questions, about three minutes.

They choose how their story can be used. It goes on the map in their county.

The map

Where it all lives.

A map of Oregon. Each piece shows up as its own symbol: films, social posts, recordings, and written stories.

Click a county to zoom in. Data layers compare things like wages, rent, and food costs, so people can see people like them and the pattern behind it.

New content and recruit

What comes in becomes the next round.

With permission, we cut submissions into new pieces, the same way we cross-cut the influencer ads.

When a story stands out, our team reaches out. Standouts can become the next films.
